Let coordinates of that point be p(α,0) and it divides AB in the ration

k:1. By section formula, y-coordinate of p.

0= 7k−6/k+1

⇒k= 76

⇒ AP/PB = 6/7

and x-coordinate,

α= −4−k/k+1

= 6/7+1−4− 6/7 = 13−34

⇒P( 13−34,0).
