ANSWER : 20th term = 41/8

STEP BY STEP EXPLANATION :

a2 = a + d = 5/8

a8 = a + 7d = 17/8

By elimination method,

a + d = 5/8
-a+-7d = -17/8
-----------------------
-6d = -12/8

-d = -12/8 × 1/6

d = 3/2 × 1/6 = 1/4

Substituting in eq.1,

a + 1/4 = 5/8

a = 5/8 - 1/4 = 5/8 - 2/8

a = 3/8

a20 = a + 19d = 3/8 + 19(1/4)

=3/8 + 38/8 = 41/8
