We have,

  • (2x-1)/3 – (6x-2)/5 = 1/3

By taking LCM for 3 and 5 which is 15

  • ((2x-1)×5)/15 – ((6x-2)×3)/15 = 1/3

  • (10x – 5)/15 – (18x – 6)/15 = 1/3

  • (10x – 5 – 18x + 6)/15 = 1/3

  • (-8x + 1)/15 = 1/3

By using cross-multiplication we get,

  • (-8x + 1)3 = 15

  • -24x + 3 = 15

  • -24x = 15 – 3

  • -24x = 12 x = -12/24

  • = -1/2

∴ x = -1/2
