Given :

2x^2+px+6=(2x-a)(x-2)\\\\

To find : The value of a and p = ?

Solution :

As we have given that

2x^2+px+6=(2x-a)(x-2)\\\\2x^2+px+6=2x^2-4x-ax+2a\\\\2x^2+px+6=2x^2+(-4-a)x+2a

On comparing the coefficient , we get :

2a=6\\\\a=\dfrac{6}{2}\\\\a=3

So, the value of p becomes:

p=-4-a\\\\p=-4-3\\\\p=-7

Hence, the value of a = 3 and p = -7.
