2x^2+x+5 prove no real roots

Solution :

For no real roots D must be < 0

= D = b^2 - 4ac

= 1^2 4*2*5

= 1 - 40

= -39 < 0

so, it have no real roots.

Condition for no real roots :- D < 0
D = b^2 - 4ac, where a = 2 , b = 1 and c = 5
D = (1)^2 - 4 × 2 × 5 = 1 - 40 = -39

-39 < 0
this proves that 2x^2 + x + 5 has no real roots.
