2x + 3y = 1 ----- (1)

x - y = 1 -------(2)

# In order to use elimination method either the coefficient of 'x' or 'y' should be same ,

So , we can multiply the equation (2) with 2;

Then,

2x - 2y = 2 --------(3)

=> (1) - (3)

2x + 3y = 1 ( - )

2x - 2y = 2

# while eliminating make sure to change the symbols of the second equation .

2x + 3y = 1

- 2x + 2y = -2

now add them ;

5y = -1

=> y = -1/5

substitute y = -1/5 in equation (2)

x - y = 1

=> x = 1+y

x = 1 - 1/5

x = 5 - 1 /5

=> x = 4/5
