SOLUTION

TO DETERMINE

To solve 2x+3y=12 and 4x+5y=22

EVALUATION

Here the given equations are

 \sf{2x + 3y = 12 \:  \:  \:  -  -  - (1)}

 \sf{4x + 5y = 22 \:  \:  \:  -  -  - (2)}

Now 2 × Equation 1 - Equation 2 gives

 \sf{(4x + 6y) - (4x + 5y )= 24 - 22 \:  \:  \:  }

 \sf{ \implies \: y = 2 }

From Equation 1 we get

 \sf{2x + (3 \times 2) = 12 \:  \:  \:  }

 \sf{ \implies \: 2x + 6 = 12 \:  \:  \:  }

 \sf{ \implies \: 2x= 6 \:  \:  \:  }

 \sf{ \implies \: x= 3 \:  \:  \:  }

Hence the required solution is

x = 3 & y = 2
