Given : Given Equations are  2x+3y=16

                                                 x-4y=-3

To Find: Values of x & y

Step-by-step explanation:

  • Step 1   : 2x +3y = 16 -----------> eq. 1

                x-4y = -3 --------------> eq. 2

From eq.2

            x-4y=-3

transposing (-4y) to L.H.S

              x=-3+4y--------------> eq. 3

  • Step 2 : substituting  eq.3 in eq.1

           2(-3+4y) + 3y = 16

             -6 + 8y +3y =16

               -6 + 11y =16

                    11y = 16+6

                      11y = 22

                        y= \frac{22}{11}

                         y = 2

  • Step 3 : Substituting y=2 in eq.3

                    x= -3 + 4y

                    x= -3 + 4(2)

                       = -3 + 8

                       = 5

                    x = 5

Value of  x is 5 and y is 2
