2x+3y = 5 and 5x-4y+22=0 = 5x-4y = -22
2x+3y=5.................(1) × 4 = 8x+12y= 20
5x-4y=-22..............(2) × 3 = 15x-12y =-66
By adding both equations,
15x-12y =-66
8x+12y= 20
__________
23x = -46
x= -46/23
x= -2
Now,
put the value of x in equation (1) to get the value of y
2x+3y=5
= 2×(-2) + 3y = 5
= -4 + 3y = 5
= 3y = 5 + 4
= 3y = 9
= y = 9/3
= y = 3. Ans
