Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

Given:  2x +3y = 9 _______(1),

           3x + 4y = 5 ______  (2)

by method of elimination:-

Subtracting equation 1 from 2 after  multiplying equation (1) by 4 and equation (2) by 3

we have,

2x + 3y = 9 (x 4) ⇒  8x + 12y = 36

3x + 4y = 5 (x 3) ⇒ 9x + 12y = 15

                               -       -         -

                           -------------------------

                                  -x  = 21

                                ∴ x = - 21

substitute x = -21 in eq (1)

         2(-21) + 3y = 9

        -42  + 3y = 9

                   3y = 9 + 42

                   3y = 51

                    y = 51/3

                  y = 17

So,  x = -21 and y = 17
