 \frac{2x}{a}  +  \frac{y}{b}  = 2 \\  \\   \frac{x}{a}  -   \frac{y}{b }  = 4

let 1 by a b equal to p and one by b equal to q

2px + qy = 2 \:  \:  \: equatinon1

px - qy = 4 \:  \:  \: equation2

add 1 and 2

3px = 6 \\ px = 2

subtract 1 and 2

multiply equation 2 by 2

2px - 2qy = 8

 - qy =  - 6

now solve the rest by yourself

just put one by a in the place of P and one by v in the place of q and solve
