6 is the value of x if the cost price of\bold{2x} and \bold{x+2}articles are \bold{Rs.5x+54} and \bold{Rs.10x-4}.

Given:

2xand x+2 articles are Rs.5x+54 and Rs.10x-4

To find:

Value of x = ?

Solution:

The number of articles given are 2x and x+2

The cost price of 2x and x+2 articles are Rs.5x+54 and Rs.10x-4

Now as the question says the number of articles is equal to the cost price of the article

\frac{2 x}{x+2}=\frac{5 x+54}{10 x-4}

\begin{array}{c}{2 x(10 x-4)=5 x+54(x+2)} \\ {(x-6)(15 x+18)=0}\end{array}

\begin{array}{c}{2 x(10 x-4)=5 x+54(x+2)} \\ {(x-6)(15 x+18)=0} \\ {x=6,-\frac{18}{15}}\end{array}

The value of x is either 6 or-\frac{18}{15}, but due to the negative nature of the number-\frac{18}{15}, the value of x can only be 6.

Hence, the value of x = 6.
