Solution :

Let the rate law for the reaction be r=k[A]n

According to the question,

27r=k[3A]n

Dividing equation (ii) by equation (i) we get

27rr=k[3A]nk[A]n

or 33=3n

order of reaction n=3

The order of the reaction is 3

Explanation:

2X\rightarrow X_2

Rate law says that rate of a reaction is directly proportional to the concentration of the reactants each raised to a stoichiometric coefficient determined experimentally called as order.

rate=k[X]^n

k= rate constant

x = order with respect to X

rate=k[X]^n   (1)

Rate of reaction becomes 27 times when concentration of X increases 3 times.

rate'=k[3X]^n

27\times rate=k[3X]^n     (2)

Dividing (2) by (1)

27=3^n

3^3=3^n

n=3
