Subtract both the equations

→ (2x + y) - (x + y) = 11 - 1

→ 2x + y - x - y = 10

→ x = 10

Put the value of x in eqⁿ (ii)

→ x + y = 1

→ 10 + y = 1

→ y = 1 - 10 = -9

Hence,

Required value of x = 10

Required value of y = -9
