2x-y=2-(1)

X+y=4-(2)

adding eq (1) &( 2)

Cancelling (+y & +y)

we get

3X=6

X=6

hence X =2

placing X=2 in eq (2)

X+Y=4

2+Y=4

Y=4-2 Y=2

therefore, (X,Y) = (2,2).
