2x-y=4 (i)

x-y= -1 (ii)

x=-1+y

put the value of x in eqns i

2(-1+y) -y=4

-2+2y -y =4

y=4+2

y=6

put the value of y in eqns ii

x-y= -1

x-6=-1

x= -1+6

x=5
