given \\ 2x + y = 8 \: \: \: \: \: (i) \\ \: \: x + 6y = 15 \: \: \: \: \: (ii) \\ equate \: both \: equation \: by \: multiplying \: \\ (ii) \: by \: 2 \: we \: will \: equate \: x \\ now \: new \: equations \: are \: as \: \\ follows. \\ 2x + y = 8 \: \: \: \: (iii) \\ 2x + 12y = 30 \: \: \: \: (iv) \\ subtract \: these \: equation \\ (2x - 2x) + (y - 12y) = (8 - 30) \\ - 11y = - 22 \\ y = \frac{22}{11} \\ y = 2 \\ subsitute \: y \: value \: in \: (i) \\ 2x + 2 = 8 \\ 2x = 8 - 2 \\ 2x = 6 \\ x = \frac{6}{2} \\ x = 3 \\ therefore \: x \: is \: 3 \: and \: y \: is \: 2.
