2years ago shanthi was trice as old as her daughter and 6years later she will be 4 years older than twice her age. How old are they now ?write the equation for given information??

shameemamk: Let x be the present age of the daughter. Then 2 years ago Shanti’s age was 3(x-2). And her present agr is 3(x-2)+2
=3x-4

After 6 years her age will be 3x-4+6=3x+2
and the daughter’s will be x+6

So 3x+2=2(x+6)+4

From this we get x=14
So their ages are 14 and 38
