Each ponds doubles the number of flowers,

And each temple should have equal number of flowers offered.

Number of flowers remaining after offerings should be zero.

TO FIND:

Number of flowers at the beginning before offering, and the number offered at each temple.

SOLUTION:

◆Let number of flowers at the beginning before offering be , x

◆Number of flowers that is offered at each temple be y.

◆There are 3 ponds and 3 temples starting with temple,

◆Flowers from first pond = 2x

After crossing the temple it became = 2x- y

◆From 2nd pond =2( 2x -y )

From 2nd temple it became

= [2(2x - y )-y ]

= 4x - 3y

Similarly,

◆Equation becomes,

3rd temple = 8x-7y

◆so, x,y can be found easily. There can be many values for it.

◆Here,

Let x =7, y =8

ANSWER :

Number of flowers at the beginning before offering =7

Flowers offered each at temple= 8
