Firstly, rationalise the denominator (3+√7) / (3-√7) ---
(3+√7)(3+√7) / (3-√7)(3+√7)
= (16 + 6√7) / 2
= 16/2 + (6√7) / 2
= 8 + 3√7
Therefore, 8 + 3√7 = a + b √3
