There is some mistake in pic. See here:

(3+root 7)/(3-root 7) * (3+ root 7)/(3+ root 7) = a+b root 7

=) {(3)^2 + (7)^2 + 2*3*root 7} / (3)^2 - ( root 7)^2 = a+ b root 7

=) (16 +6root 7)/2 = a+b root 7

=) 8+ 3 root 7 = a+b root 7

Hence, a = 8
b = 3
