multiply by 2

6x+14y=62

6x+6y=34

subtraction

8y= 28

y= 28/8

y= 7/2

put the value of y = 7/2 in equation 1

3x+7(7/2) = 31

3x+49/2 =31

3x= 31-49/2

3x= 62-49/2

3x= 13/2

x= 13/2÷3

x= 13/6
