Answer:

area of carpet = 10*6.5

area of carpet = 65m2 =

if the border is build, the new length is 10+1.5 = 11. 5m

and breadth = 6.5 + 1.5= 8m

new area = 8*11.5=92

area of border = 92-65

area of border = 27m =

i hope this is right and will help

Answer :-

( refer to the attachment )

Area of the border = Area of rectangle EFGH - Area of recantgle ABCD

Area of recantgle ABCD :-

We know that,

Area of recantgle = Length × width

= 6.5 × 10

= 65

Area of recantgle ABCD = 65 m²

Area of rectangle EFGH = EF × FG

EF = 10 + 0.75 + 0.75

EF = 11.5

FG = 6.5 + 0.75 + 0.75

FG = 8

Area = 8 × 11.5

= 92

Area of rectangle EFGH = 92 m²

Area of border = Area of rectangle EFGH - Area of recantgle ABCD

= 92 - 65

= 27

Area of border = 27 m²
