intial velocity (u) = 18 m/s
final velocity (v) = 0 m/s
therefore retardation (a) = (v-u)/t = (0-18)/8 = 18/8 m/s^2
therefore force = mass × retardation = 1550 × 18/8 = 3487.5 N
