3-b. A stone is thrown vertically upward with a velocity of 40 m/s. What is (a) maximum height attained and (b) the time taken to reach its maximum height?

Very simple !!

maximum height attend given by formula =>


h = u²/ 2g

40× 40/ 2× 10

=> 80 m

time taken to reach maximum height given by formula :-

u / g

=> 40/10

4 sec .
