3 containers A,B,C are having mixtures of milk and water in the ratio of 1:5, 3:5, 5:7 respectively. The capacities of the containers are in ratio 5:4:5. if the containers are mixed together , find the ratiobof milkbto water in the resulting mixture..? (pls describe the way of doing)

you have to write the ratios into quantities and then you have to add all the quantities of water and milk separately and find the ratio.
let,
in the container A,
Milk = x
water = 5x
in the container B,
Milk = 3y
Water = 5y
in the container C,
Milk = 5z
Water = 7z

Capacities of containers are in the ratio 5:4:5.
Capacity of container A = 5m
Capacity of container B = 4m
Capacity of container C = 5m

So, Capacity of Container A = Capacity of Container C
⇒ 6x = 12z
∴ x = 2z
5m=12z
⇒m=12z/5
4m=4×(12z)/5
     = 48z/5
8y= 48z/5
⇒y=6z/5
Total capacity of Milk=x+3y+5z
                                 = 2z+18z/5+5z
                                 = 53z/5
Total Capacity of water = 5x+5y+7z
                                     = 10z+30z/5+7z
                                     = 115z/5
Ratio of Capacity of Milk with Water = 53z/5 : 115z/5
                                                          = 53:115
