we have to divide a

 {2x}^{3}  +  {x}^{2}  - 2x - 1 \:  \: by \: x + 1

This should be done by using a long division method.

multiply x+1 by

2 {x}^{2} we \: get \: 2 {x}^{3}  +  {2x}^{2}

Therefore the quotient is

 {2x}^{2}  - x - 1

The remainder is 0
