Explain co-dominance with suitable example.​

Explanation:

Codominance develops when there are two versions (alleles) of the same gene in a living being and both are expressed. Instead of being dominant on one trait over the other, both traits occur. In plants and animals with more than one pigment color, codominance is easy to detect.

Examples:

  1. When a white-feathered chicken crosses with a black-feathered chicken, the result is an offspring chicken that grows up to have both black and white feathers.
  2. In the case of rhododendrons, a red and white flower crossing will produce a flower which has red and white patches.
