Answer:

Explanation:

1. Explain the term 'agents of seed dispersal'. Name any two agents of seed

answer - Seed Dispersal is an adaptive mechanism in all seed-bearing plants, participating in the movement or transport of seeds away from their parent plant to ensure the germination and survival of some of the seeds to adult plants. There are many vectors to transport the seed from one place to another. Seed Dispersal by Wind

The wind is the natural and fundamental means of seed dispersal in the plant kingdom. This process of dispersal is mainly seen in those plants which bear very light seeds. The seeds of the orchid plant, dandelions, swan plants, cottonwood tree, hornbeam, ash, cattail, puya, willow herb, are all examples of plants whose seed are dispersed by the wind.

Seed Dispersal by Water

In this method of seed dispersal, seeds float away from their parent plant. These are mainly seen in those plant which lives in water or nearby the water bodies like beaches, lakes, ponds etc. Coconut, palm, mangroves, water lily, water mint, are a few examples of plants whose seed are dispersed by the water.

Q2. Explain the term 'stem cuttings

answer - A stem cutting is a separated portion of plant stem that can regrow into a new independent clone via vegetative propagation. All stems possess nodes, from which a leaf, branch or aerial root may grow – the region between nodes are called internodes

Q3 List the conditions necessary for a plant to germinate dispersal.

answer - The most important external factors include right temperature, water, oxygen or air and sometimes light or darkness. Various plants require different variables for successful seed germination

Q4 How are seeds dispersed by wind?

answer - The wind is the natural and fundamental means of seed dispersal in the plant kingdom. This process of dispersal is mainly seen in those plants which bear very light seeds. The seeds of the orchid plant, dandelions, swan plants, cottonwood tree, hornbeam, ash, cattail, puya, willow herb, are all examples of plants whose seed are dispersed by the wind.

Q5 State the steps which a farmer follows to grow healthy crops.

answer -  Crop Selection

Land Preparation

Seed Selection

Seed Sowing

Irrigation

Crop Growth

Fertilizing

Harvesting

Q6 What are weeds? How are crops protected against them?

answer - Protection of crops from weeds :- The removal of unwanted plants that grow along with the crops is referred to as weeding. Weeds compete with crops for water, minerals and sunlight. They also spread pests on to the crops and sometimes produce poisonous substances harmful to the crops, thus reducing the yield of crops
