Endoparasites are the type of animals that live inside a body. These animals require a host for shelter or nutrition. They can cause harm to the body of the host they are living in. In most animals, these live in the organs of the animals.
Three endoparasite animals:
- Cestodes or Tapeworm: These are found in the intestines of animals. They have a long, flattened, ribbon-like body that can vary in length. These are ingested through contaminated food or water. They can stay for a long and cause serious illness if not treated. Direct medications can help in the removal of tapeworms
- Trematodes or Flukes: These are endoparasites usually found in the liver, gall bladder, and bile duct of vertebrates. These cause serious illness or damage and can stay up to many years.
- Plasmodium: These are unicellular protozoan parasites. They cause damage to the human body by the ability to multiply fast. Plasmodium is received from mosquitoes as a vector to humans causing Malaria.
