whenever due to short circuit current through the conductor increases abruptly the fuse wire gets heated as per joules law of heating and melts instantly hence breaks the circuit to avoid further losses

fuse wire are low resistance and meallability and sufficient volatage supplies then wire break down that is cheapest and best way protect our home appliances
