Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

let the  no. of boys be x, and the girls be y

given : x/y =7/5

i.e 5x-7y = 0

no. of boys x = y +8 (boys are 8 more than girls)

solving equations (i) and (ii)

5x-7y =0 (multiply by 1)   ----  5x - 7y = 0

x  -  y  =8 (multiplyby 5)   ----  5x-5y =   40

y=20

substituting for y in eqn. (ii) x - 20 = 8   x=28

total no. of students = 20 + 28 = 48
