If one organism eats the other is called the predator and which is eaten up by the organism is called the prey. Grasshopper eats maize and frog eats the grasshopper and frogs are eaten by snake and snake by eagle respectively.

The organisms in the chain can also be described as - producers, primary consumers, secondary consumers and tertiary consumers respectively.
