There are three salivary glands:

1) The two parotid glands are near the ear (par- = next to, -otid = ear). They are the largest salivary glands.

2) The sublingual gland is under the tongue.

3) The submandibular gland is in the shape of a “U”. It is under the chin bone which is called the mandible.

the three pairs of salivary glands present in the humans are
1) parotid :
it is the largest salivary gland present at the base of pinna
2) submaxillary:
it opens into buccal cavity with Wharton's duct
helps in stenson's duct )
3) sublingual :
opens into buccal cavity with bartholine duct or duct of revinus ( it is the smallest salivary gland)

4) intra orbital salivary gland ( which is absent in humans )
