S O L U T I O N :

Given :

The age of a man is 24 years more than his son. In two years, the father's age will be twice that of his son.

Explanation :

Let the present age of son be x years & let the present age of father's be (x + 24) years respectively.

According to the question :

2 years later :

The age of son will = (x + 2) years.

The age of father's will = (x + 24 + 2) years.

Now,

➠ (x + 24 + 2) = 2(x + 2)

➠ (x + 26) = 2x + 4

➠ x + 26 = 2x + 4

➠ x - 2x = 4 - 26

➠ -x = -22

x = 22 years .

Thus,

The present age of son will be 22 years .

The present age of father's will be (22 + 24) years = 46 years .

Answer:

Given :-

  • Age of man = Son's age + 24
  • After 2 years = 2× Son's age

To Find :-

Present age of Father and son

Solution :-

According to the given Question

Let the present age of son be x

 \sf \: (x + 24 + 2) = 2(x + 24)

 \sf \: (x + 24 + 2) = 2 \times x + 2 \times 24

 \sf \: (x + 26) = 2x + 24

Removing bracket

 \sf \: x + 26 = 2x + 4

 \sf \: x - 2x = 4 - 26

 \sf \: - x = - 22

 \sf \: negative \: sign \: will\: be \: cancelled

 \sf \: x = 22

Therefore,

Present age of Son = x = 22 years

Present age of Father = x + 24 = 22 + 24 = 46 years.
