1》The Himalayas consists of three parallel ranges in its longitudinal extent. The northern most range is called Inner Himalayas or GreatHimalayas or 'Himadri'. It is the most continuous range consisting of the loftiest peaks with an average heigth of 6000mts. It contains all prominentHimalayan peaks.
2》The range lies between the GreatHimalayas to the northeast and the Siwalik Range (Outer Himalayas) to the southeast and has an average elevation of 12,000 to 15,000 feet (3,700 to 4,500 metres). It includes portions of the western (Punjab), Kumaun, Nepal, and Assam Himalayas ranges.
3》Shivalik range is also known as lowerHimalaya. The Shivalik hills is a mountain range of the outerHimalayas also known as Manak Parbat in ancient times .The width of the Shivalik hills varies from 10 to 50 km (6.2 to 31.1 mi), their average elevation is 1,500 to 2,000 m (4,900 to 6,600 ft).
