1/x =1/(3+√8) =3-√8/(3+√8) (3-√√8)=3-√8/1=3-√8

Now , x + 1/x = 3+√8+3-√8=6

Now, x^2 +1/x^2 =(x + 1/x )^2 -2x× 1/x

= 6^2 -2×1

here \: is \: your \: answer \: mate

here \: x = 3 + \sqrt{8}

so \: {x}^{2} + \frac{1}{ {x}^{2} } \\ = {(3 + \sqrt{8}) }^{2} + \frac{1}{ {(3 + \sqrt{8)} }^{2} }

 = (9 + 8) \: + \frac{1}{9 + 8} \\ = 17 + \frac{1}{17} \\ = \frac{289 + 1}{17} \\ = \frac{290}{7}
