Why is water not used in controlling electrical fires?
Answers
Answer:
3. For slow or incomplete combustion, lack of oxygen that is presence of little amount of oxygen is required. This will produce CO instead of CO2 which is a poisonous gas due to partial combustion of the material or hydrocarbon.
4. Calorific value is the amount of energy released or produced when 1 kg of fuel burns or any other substance is burnt in the presence of oxygen and the products of combustion are cooled to STP. Its SI unit is kJ/kg.
5. Fuel is easily available and cheaper.
Burns easily in the air at a moderate rate.
6. It quite simple water is generally a good conductor of electricity. We cannot use it to control electric fires as it has a high tendency to carry electricity along itself and thus can be harmful. we do not use water in controlling electrical fires bcoz water is a good conductor of electricity.
