But cos x=-3 is not possible for all values of x.So,cos x=cos 60°=1/2.

=>3tan x+cot x=5 cosec x
=>3sin x/cos x+cos x/sin x=5/sin x
=>(3sin^2 x+cos ^2 x)=5sinx cosx/sinx
=>3(1-cos ^2 x)+cos ^2 x=5 cos x
=>2 cos ^2 x+5cos x -3=0
=> 2 cos ^2 x+6cos x-cos x-3=0
=>2 cos x(cos x+3)-1(cos x +3)=0
=>(2cos x-1)(cos x +3)=0
=>cos x=1/2 Or cos x=-3.
