Given

  • Area of rectangle = Area of square
  • Side of the square = 60 m
  • Length of the rectangle = 90 m

To find

  • Breadth of the rectangle

Solution

It is given that the area of rectangle is equal to area of square and we have the value of the side of the square. So, firstly we will find the area of square.

Using formula,

Area of the square = side × side

Substituting the given values,

⟶ 60 × 60

⟶ 3600 m²

Area of the square = 3600 m²

Now, as we know that area of square is equal to the area od rectangle and we have the value of the length of the rectangle. By using the formula of area of rectangle we will find the breadth of the rectangle.

Area of rectangle = Area of square (given)

Using formula,

Area of rectangle = l × b

where,

  • l = length of the rectangle
  • b = breadth of the rectangle

Substituting the given values,

⟶ 3600 = 90 × b

⟶ 3600/90 = b

⟶ 360/9 = b

⟶ 40 = b

The breadth of the rectangle = 40 cm

_____________________________

Verification :-

Substituting the values of breadth in 3600 = l × b

⟶ 3600 = 40 × 90

RHS

⟶ 40 × 90

⟶ 3600

LHS = RHS

Hence, verified.
