Fathers age is thrice the age of his son write a linear equation in two variables to represent the solution

(X-3y) = 6

So let Father's present age be (x)

Let son's present age be (y)

So after three years the age of father

will be= (X + 3)

After three years the age of son will be =(Y + 3)

So as per the question:

(X + 3) = 3(Y + 3)

X + 3 = 3Y + 9

X-3Y= 9-3

X-3Y=6

So three times son's age subtracted from father's age is equal to 6.

so a linear equation to represent the equation in above statement is (X-3Y) = 6x
