Answer:

finding their ages.........

Step-by-step explanation:

Let the present age of son be x

Let the present age of man be y

Age of son after 10 years = x+10

Age of man after 10 years = y+10

We are given that 10 years Hence a man's age will be twice the age of his son

y+10=2(x+10)

y=2x+20-10

y=2x+10------1

Age of son 10 years ago = x-10

Age of man 10 years ago= y-10

We are given that ten years ago the man was four times as old as his son .

y-10=4(x-10)

Substitute value of y from 1

2x+10-10=4x-40

2x=4x-40

40=2x

20=x

Substitute the value of x in 1

y=2x+10

y=2(20)+10

y=50

Hence the age of son is 20 years and the age of man is 50 years.
