EXPLANATION.

Let the numerator of a fraction be = x

Let the denominator of a fraction be = y

The sum of numerator and denominator

of a fraction = 12.

=> x + y = 12 .......(1)

If the denominator is increased by 3

the fraction become = 1/2.

=> x / y + 3 = 1/2

=> 2x = y + 3

=> 2x - y = 3 ........(2)

From equation (1) and (2) we get,

=> 3x = 15

=> x = 5

put the value of x = 5 in equation (1)

we get,

=> 5 + y = 12

=> y = 7

Therefore,

Fraction become = 5/7 .

option [ B ] is correct answer.

Given :-

  • The sum of the numerator and denominator of a fraction is 12.

  • If the denominator is increased by by the fraction becomes 1/2.

To Find :-

  • The Fraction.

Solution :-

Let,

✔ Numerator = x.

✔ Denominator = y.

According To The Question, We Can Say,

⇒ x + y = 12.

⇒ y = 12 - x.

Now, We will add 3 to the denominator.

x/y + 3 = 1/2.

⇒ 2x = y + 3.

⇒ 2x - y = 3.

Put the value Of x.

⇒ 2x - 12 + x = 3.

⇒ 3x = 15.

⇒ x = 5.

Now, Calculating The Denominator.

⇒ y = 12 - x.

⇒ y = 12 - 5.

⇒ y = 7.

Therefore, Fraction = 5/7.

☯️ Hence, Your Answer = Option [B].
