we have to solve the equations ;

3/x - 1/y = -9 and 2/x + 3/y = 5

solution : let 1/x = u and 1/y = v

then, 3/x - 1/y = -9 ⇒3(1/x) - (1/y) = -9

⇒3u - v = -9 .......(1)

and 2/x + 3/y = 5 ⇒2(1/x) + 3(1/y) = 5

⇒2u + 3v = 5 ......(2)

from equations (1) and (2) we get,

3(3u - v) + (2u + 3v) = -9 × 3 + 5

⇒9u - 3v + 2u + 3v = -27 + 5

⇒9u + 2u = -22

⇒u = -22/11 = -2

and v = 3u + 9 = -6 + 9 = 3[ from eq (1). ]

so, u = -2 ⇒1/x = -2 ⇒x = -1/2

and v = 3 ⇒1/y = 3 ⇒y = 1/3

Therefore the solution is x = -1/2 and y = 1/3
