i. The climate is very cold in the high altitudes of Himalays.

ii. During winter, in Jammu & Kashmir and parts of mountainous regions of

Himalayas, the temperatures drop to 40 . o  C There is heavy snowfall.

iii. Due to this, land which is covered with snow becomes unsuitable for vegetation.

Hence, seasonally flowing trees are found here.

Therefore, due to very cold temperature, vegetation is scarce in the high altitudes

of Himalayas.
