3. What according to the father was the reality of Labhu who used to boast a lot abou his valour and bravery?
Answers
Labhu is a teller of tall-tales. He has such a vivid imagination that he's able to take mundane events and spin elaborate stories out of them. This makes him a very agreeable companion. Unfortunately, it also earns him the reputation of being a liar. With Labhu one's never quite sure whether what he's saying really happened or whether it's just another one of his shaggy-dog stories.
The matter is complicated, however, by Labhu's lowly caste. As a member of a low caste he's already something of a social pariah, someone with whom those of a higher caste don't wish to be associated. It's all too easy, then, for someone like the narrator's father to pour scorn on Labhu's hunting abilities, for example. This isn't just because he thinks that Labhu's lying about them, but because, as a member of a lower caste, Labhu's not someone he can respect.
