Answer:

Basically there are four challenges before political parties;

1.Lack of internal democracy:There is a total lack of democracy in the internal functioning of parties. Power is concentrated in the hands of a few top party leader, leading to personality cult. Parties do not hold regular elections for party posts which are often occupied by top leaders. One or two leaders exercise paramount power because of their popularity and charisma.

2.Dynastic succession:In most of the party, top positions are occupied by members of the same family. If a family member holding the position of President or leader of a party dies, his post is filled by his children or a close relative.

3.Role of money:During elections, money and muscle power are used to bribe, purchase, influence and intimidate voters.

4.Limited alternative available to voters:Most of the parties are similar in ideology, policy and programme. Though they claim to be different, they are similar and the voters have no meaningful choice or better alternative.
