The poet named the poem “Mother and the Mouse" and not just ‘The Mouse’ because the mother is the main character in the poem. The entire poetry is based on the mother and her encounter with the mouse. She is a character who is not afraid of anything or anyone in this world but when she sees a mouse, she screams like a baby and starts to tremble like a baby bat. She climbs up the sink in her kitchen and was shouting for help. The mother is not afraid of even darkness or thunderstorm, is afraid to see a little mouse. She was shouting on top of her voice which made the author also to worry as to what must have happened.
