3. Why were women disappointed with the Constitution of 1791?

Women disappointed with the Constitution of 1791 as it had reduced them to passive citizens.They demanded the right to vote,to be elected to the assembly and to hold political offices.Only then,they felt, would their interests be represented in the new government.

4.           Why was the Reign of Terror a setback for the women’s movement?

i.                        During the Reign of Terror, the new government issued laws ordering closure of women’s clubs and banning their political activities.

ii.                        Many prominent women were arrested and a number of them executed

However women’s struggle for equal political rights continued.
