To test for starch, you have to use iodine solution on any food item.

Eg: Use a potato. Crush it and put it in a tube. Add 10 drops of water, so it can turn to liquid. Add 2-3 drops of iodine solution. Wait a few seconds. It will turn Blue-Black. And that proves it has starch.
